How to Heat Fix a Bacterial Smear - Techniques Demonstration
In this video Dr. Patrick heat fixes two slides of bacteria. One of the smear is prepared from a bacterial colony. A second smear is prepared from a broth culture. Also, she demonstrates how to fix the bacteria from two heat sources. One of the heat sources is an open flame/ candle; the other heat source is a micro incinerator. The slide heat fixed from a colony looks more opaque; and the slide heat fixed from the broth culture looks more transparent.
