Fading black remastered

Fading Black (remastered) Written when I was 17, in my last year of high school, and first played during a student occupation at my school. I still remember the silence of my classmates while they listened. Back then, I already knew I was different from what I seemed to be. This song was a message from that younger self to the future — to the woman I would one day be able to live as. The remastered answer version completes the circle: the male voice is the boy knowingly singing into the future, sending his song across the years in the hope that one day someone would answer; the female voice is the same soul, finally visible, answering back. The credit keeps the name I used when the song was written. I do not see it as an erasure of who I am today, but as respect for the life I lived, the years I survived, and the history that made this answer possible. The person is the same; the voice has finally become whole. Written and Composed by Stylianos Polychroniadis, 1998 First recording:    • Boy I used to think about you   LYRICS [Intro] [fingerpicked acoustic guitar] [Verse 1 — Male] Silly young man Where he's standing Dreaming of a brand new day [Female echo] Hey hey [Male] Try to live high Face his story But something seems to be in the way [Verse 2 — Male] Heaven thirst tonight Rings of smoke go by And the earth had never had it Once he lived a life Now she wants a vibe And the world keeps turning [Chorus 1 — Male] Oh boy Used to think about you The grass was greener and the streets were never empty But now I know I have to feel so empty And the sound of children playing on the ground [Female solo] Oh boy I am the woman you were hiding Past the silence, past the rain I am the name you could not whisper I am your face beyond the pain Oh boy I was waiting in the mirror Where the light was never still You were singing through the darkness I was living in your will You wrote the door before the key You wrote the self that I would be And while the world kept turning blind We left our truth for us to find [Verse 3 — Male] It must be me In years past And those broken feelings When I hear The sound of rainfall on the ground I want to dream like I was dreaming [Female lead] It was still us beneath the rain Not only fear, not only pain Every drop upon the ground Taught the silence how to sound [Verse 4 — Male] All we are Just a moment in time What you got makes you happy All things Are sand in the head And the world keeps turning [Female lead] All we were was not in vain Even the silence, even the pain All things pass, but not the flame Not the secret, not the name [Chorus 2] [Male] Oh girl I was always thinking of you The grass was greener and the streets were never empty [Female] Oh boy I remember it too I was the voice inside the dream that carried through And now we know We were never empty We were making room beneath the sound [Electric Guitar Solo] [no vocals] [Verse 5 — Male] Something's wrong tonight People passing by I hope they'll never understand me They thought they'd seen me smile Though I was only crying All the world fades to black [Female lead] They never had to understand The silence written in our hand They passed us by, they turned away But I was breathing there that day You thought the world was fading black But we were not erased by that Inside the dark, beneath the screen We were learning to be seen [Climax Chorus] [Male] Oh girl I used to think about you The grass was greener and the streets were never empty [Female] Oh boy I was always there inside you I was the hidden light beneath the sound [Male] But now I know I had to feel so empty And the sound of children playing on the ground [Female] And now I know We are not so empty What was buried has been found [Male distant] All the world fades to black [Female lead] But I was there [Resolution] [Male] Oh girl [Female] Oh boy [Male] I used to feel so empty [Female] No more, no more I don't feel so empty anymore [Both] No more, no more We don't feel so empty anymore [Outro — Female lead] You can rest now, younger one All our hiding days are done You were not wrong You were not weak You were the song I learned to speak [Both, soft repeat] No more, no more We don't feel empty anymore [Female whisper] All the world fades to black [Both whisper] But we were there beneath the black #FadingBlack #AriadneCelestia #StylianosPolychroniadis #AcousticFolkRock #OriginalSong #Remastered #LGBTQMusic #TransArtist #SingerSongwriter #FolkRock
