The Ford Galaxie, the name was introduced as a trim level for the Ford Fairlane in 1959. The name Galaxie was used to tie into the global excitement surrounding the space race and the following year it became the nameplate used on the Full sized ford lineup. The Galaxie was a successful car in NASCAR history, with multiple drivers and teams winning races and championships in the 1960s. The Ford Galaxie accounted for 48 NASCAR victories in 1965, with Holman Moody factory drivers, Ned Jarrett and Dick Hutcherson, placing 1-2 in the driver's championship.
