This was the topic of a debate held at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Silesia in Katowice on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the birth of this outstanding priest – founder of the "Oases" of the Light-Life Movement, whose profile is presented in the Upper Silesian Pantheon. The participants discussed his complex life and clashes with the authorities, as well as the dramatic circumstances of his death. An important part of the conversation also included a discussion of the contemporary legacy of Father Blachnicki's work and teaching, which continues to influence the spiritual formation of successive generations. The meeting was organized by the Archdiocese of Katowice and the Faculty of Theology of the University of Silesia, in cooperation with Bishop Adam Wodarczyk, postulator of Father Blachnicki's beatification process. The speakers (panelists) included guests from the Catholic University of Lublin, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University, and the Institute of National Remembrance.
