Over 27 million units have been sold since 1968, renowned for their robustness and reliability even in extreme conditions. The new range introduces a 48-volt mild hybrid diesel engine, a fully electric version, and a hydrogen-powered variant scheduled for 2028. Dimensions remain essentially unchanged: 5.32 meters long, 1.87 meters high, and a 3.09-meter wheelbase. Available only with a crew cab, it offers 31 cm of ground clearance, 70 cm of water fording, and a towing capacity of up to 3,500 kg. The design has been updated with slimmer headlights, a new hexagonal grille, more sculpted lines, and lightweight 17- or 18-inch wheels. The interior is inspired by the Land Cruiser, with more refined yet durable materials. Digital instruments and an infotainment screen up to 12.3 inches, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, make their debut. Comfort and practicality are improved thanks to more padded seats, numerous storage compartments, wireless charging, and 360-degree cameras. During the test in Bulgaria, the Hilux demonstrated excellent off-road capabilities. The Multi-Terrain Select system offers dedicated modes for sand, mud, rocks, snow, and other terrain. All-wheel drive, low-range gears, and a locking differential allow for tackling difficult terrain with ease. On-road, some swaying is noticeable, but this is offset by precise steering and a good response from the 500 Nm 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine, supported by the hybrid system. Prices start at €41,400 (excluding VAT) for the mild hybrid version and €58,000 for the electric version.
