Check out our music video for this production here:    • Welcome to Kanagawa - Pacific Overtures (C...   Set in 1853 Japan, Pacific Overtures, written by Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman, follows the difficult Westernization of Japan, told from the point of view of the Japanese. In particular, the story focuses on the lives of two friends caught in the change. This was the first production of Pacific Overtures presented in Los Angeles since 1998. The story of John Manjiro has been a popular story told by many in all manners of storytelling and theatrical license. For our production, we take you back to a little village in Japan in the 1800s, as our traveling band of actors share with you their version of the story of the man who was taken to America, but made his way back to Japan to warn his countrymen of what was coming... This production starred Cesar Cipriano, Peter Jeensalute, Daniel Koh, Daryl Leonardo, Marcel Licera, Gibran Mahmud, Kevin Matsumoto, John Sala, Julia May Wong and Paul Wong. The director was James Esposito. Musical direction by Daniel Yokomizo and choreography by Michael Marchak. Scenic design by Hector Figueroa, costume design by Kara McLeod and lighting design by Jesse Baldrige. The stage manager was Veronica Vasquez and the assistant stage manager was Louis Lake III.
