Rivian R2 Accessory Test: What Fits and What Doesn’t from my R1T

What actually fits inside the Rivian R2? I tested camping gear, SAR equipment, dog accessories, floor mats and more. I picked up my Rivian R2 yesterday, and now it is time to see whether the accessories and equipment I previously used in my Rivian R1T and Toyota Land Cruiser will work in the smaller R2. In this video, I test-fit two Pelican 2950 cases containing my search and rescue equipment, a HEST mattress, Maple’s dog hammock, a Rivian pet first-aid kit and the new Rivian rubber floor mats. I also look at potential mounting locations for my 100-watt VHF radio, install a one-terabyte drive for Road Cam and Motion Cam, and show the window tint that was installed within the first 12 hours of ownership. The Pelican cases fit almost perfectly between the rear wheel wells, giving me enough room to use the R2 for urban missions, forest-road searches and other situations that do not require the more serious off-road capability of my Land Cruiser. The HEST mattress also mostly fits with the seats folded down, although a mattress specifically designed around the R2’s wheel wells will likely work better. Maple also gets her first ride in the R2 using the same solid-platform dog hammock that has survived years of use in my previous trucks. I then install Rivian’s rubber floor mats and discuss the additional rear cargo protection and privacy cover that I would like to add. This is only the beginning of my Rivian R2 testing.
