Underrated Gems Are Still Out There

There are still hidden gems in Pokemon if you stop staring at the same overpriced English boxes. A 151 ETB is $600, which works out to about $80 a booster pack, and no one should be ripping modern sets at that price. So I went looking for the sets actually worth opening right now. Horizon Gem 2 booster boxes are sitting around $75 while Fantasmal Flames and Destined Rivals run $500. Same illustration rares, a fraction of the cost. The Chinese exclusive Umbreon has climbed from $250 to $1,000 in a PSA 10, but the boxes never followed, so the value is still there. Japanese 151 boxes run $280 to $300 with a guaranteed Master Ball and secret rare in every box, and a PSA 10 Charizard alone clears $1,000. I also get into the art pieces people keep sleeping on, the Tohoku Pokemon Center festival sticker set, and a Dark Mewtwo I picked up for $1,000 that holds its own against $10,000 Mewtwo cards. If you want a good time ripping boxes without spending $500, this is where I would look.
