How to use the Banana

In this video, I show again how I use the home made 'tuneable fret levelling tool' (aka 'The Banana') to perform precision fret-levelling on a guitar with strings on in the normal playing configuration. The guitar in this video is Mike's gold Squier Strat Affinity series. The video features my old friend Mark who was over to do a re-fret with me on his Epiphone Les Paul (see other video) and before we did his guitar, I stopped and used THIS guitar to demonstrate to him how the process works. You can make your own 'Banana' for practically zero cost. You just need an old, standard 44cm electric guitar one-way truss rod so long as it's the 'rod & bar' type (most are). If you've got a broken neck somewhere, then pull the truss rod out of that. If not, it'll cost you around £5 from just about any guitar parts dealer. Other than that, you'll need 3 little brass dome nuts (or similar so long as they're exactly the same dimensions and they stand clear of the strings when placed between strings on the fingerboard). Finally, you'll need some self-adhesive 400 grit sandpaper and a sharp blade. All for under £10.
