On May 31st, 2014 the lives of three girls changed forever, all because of Slenderman. That morning, Anissa Weier, Morgan Geyser, and Payton Leutner walked into a park in Waukesha, Wisconsin; only Anissa and Morgan walked out. The reason for the crime committed by those two girls, then only 12 years old, threw a previously little known genre of internet horror stories, known as "creepypastas" into the national news cycle.
