Backyard Beekeeping Questions and Answers episode 218, is your feeder leaking? New Sting Treatment!

Welcome to another episode of backyard beekeeping topics. Are you ready for the second nectar flow? This series is also available as a Podcast: https://www.fredsfinefowl.com/podcast... You can submit your own topic for consideration by filling out a form: https://www.fredsfinefowl.com/thewayt... AFB field test kits are available: https://amzn.to/3rYMN1c this is an affiliate link, you can also just google that and find other sources. These are today's topics - 1) I see a lot of beekeepers freely swapping resources from one hive to another. Is there no concern about parasites or disease cross contamination? I highly recommend this field guide: https://extension.psu.edu/a-field-gui... 2) I'm wondering if you can provide some tactics, techniques, and procedure for conducting hive inspections during a dearth. Mosquito nets can be used as drapes or bee-barriers - This is an affiliate link: https://amzn.to/3qfSs2p 86 x86 x 70" 3) I always thought after a swarm, the new queen would emerge and kill all other queens. Can you discuss this subject again in next Friday's Q&A? 4) I have a ton of uncapped honey in my hives this year, and with the heat and humidity these last few weeks I suspect the bees are having a difficult time dehydrating the nectar into cappable honey. Any other suggestions? Stainless steel screens that can be used to increase entrance ventilation while providing protection from robbing: https://amzn.to/3YkVQFQ This is an affiliate link. You can also just search #8 stainless steel screen. 5) Remove the bug sting and welt - use Bug Bite Thing! "88 thousand reviews"? Here is an affiliate link to the Bug Bite Thing https://amzn.to/3OIr46v You can also just go to their website BugBiteThing.com 6) Will the Apimaye Hive allow for a Flow-Super to be put on top? 7) How do you deal with semi-full, semi-capped Flow Frame Supers when reducing hives for winter? 8) I was wondering if you would talk about diagnosing the state of a hive using all the various different things that fall onto the bottom board? 9) Regarding your swarm capture with your grandson, if you had caught the queen and forced them all into one of these two hives that they rejected they would have probably swarmed out relatively quickly. Was the entrance of the chosen hive facing the same direction as the ones they rejected? See the swarm capture video with my grandson here:    • Large Net Swarm Capture method with 7 year...   10) How and when can I swap out frames that came in my two nucleus hives from May? They were well used and need to be replaced. Thank you for watching another episode of backyard beekeeping topics.
