In the French town of Lourdes, however, miracles are said to occur repeatedly. The Catholic Church has recognized 72 mysterious healings that took place there as miracles to date. Most recently, the case of Antonietta Raco from southern Italy. She suffered from primary lateral sclerosis (PLS) and was confined to a wheelchair. Until she made a full recovery in Lourdes in 2009. A distinguished panel of doctors studied Raco's case for years – and concluded that conventional medicine cannot explain her recovery with the knowledge available today. But miraculous things also happen in Switzerland. Take Esther Rathgeb, for example. She suffered from cancer, and a cure seemed impossible. The doctors at Bern's Inselspital gave her only a few months to live. Today, six years later, the cancer has completely disappeared. The oncologists are baffled. What forces are at work here?
