1958 BC Boosterism - "Most Lovely Country" an Imperial Oil film

"Most Lovely Country" is a quote from Captain George Vancouver's journal of May 1792 as he lay off of Burrard Inlet. The film was created as an educational film for the 1958 BC Centennial. It was sponsored by Imperial Oil meaning there is a lot of focus on cars and the petroleum industry. This is only a bit more than two generations ago but the attitudes towards the world around us have dramatically changed. This gives me some hope. Famed City of Vancouver archivist Major J.S, Matthews is seen in the first minutes of the film An Imperial Oil Presentation. Story by: Margaret Ecker Francis. Direction: Lew Parry.
