Karna was abandoned by his mother Kunti out of fear of public condemnation. Therefore, he was raised by the Suta couple Adhiratha and Radha. Karna was a devoted worshiper of the Sun God and a great donor. He was given an armor and earrings from birth. Duryodhana made him king of Anga, as a result of which he fought on behalf of the Kauravas against the Pandavas. Indra, disguised as a Brahmin, demanded the donation of the armor and earrings from Karna during the Surya Puja to protect Arjuna. Karna had vowed to fulfill the request of a beggar during the Surya Puja. Therefore, to fulfill his vow, he donated his armor and earrings to Indra, even though he knew that without them, his life would be in danger. During the battle with Arjuna, the wheel of Karna's chariot got stuck in the ground, and Karna was trying to pull it out when, at the behest of Lord Krishna, Arjuna killed Karna. According to local beliefs, this mound was once the fort of King Karna. This mound was first surveyed by Cunningham and excavated by D.B. Spooner. The remains recovered from the mound have been divided into two periods: from 400 to 100 BC and from 100 BC to 300 AD. The remains include gray painted pottery, red glazed pottery, and black polished pottery. Particularly noteworthy among the antiquities recovered here are stone mortars and pestles, stone beads, animal figurines, seals bearing Brahmi inscriptions, etc. Remains of medieval settlements have also been found on this mound.
