Sports news at: https://www.sportschau.de/ It was Hannover's first victory in Braunschweig since February 2021. Back then, the "Reds" had turned the game around after falling behind (2-1). They didn't have to repeat such a strenuous effort on Sunday at Eintracht Stadium because striker Yardimci made a fatal error for the home side early in the game and was sent off for violent conduct (20th minute). His coach, Heiner Backhaus, cited the sending-off and what he considered to be inadequate defending in the box as the "turning point." Referring to Yardimci's action, in which he choked opponent Boris Tomiak, the coach said: "There's no excuse for that. It has no place in football." With a man advantage, the visitors subsequently had a relatively easy time of it: Benjamin Källman scored twice (32nd and 36th minutes) before the break, and Daisuke Yokota added another (61st minute) after halftime, securing a comfortable victory for Hannover 96. Two-goal scorer Källman was very "happy with the performance" after the match. The Finn particularly praised "the way we played." Referee Robert Hartmann had to interrupt the match after three minutes for approximately five minutes. The visiting fans had set off a large amount of pyrotechnics in their section, and dark smoke drifted through the stadium on Hamburger Straße. Afterwards, both teams began to approach the basics of a football match – initially, however, focusing more on the physical aspect of the sport. Hannover was the first team to then focus on some footballing finesse and almost took a 1-0 lead. Eintracht goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann made a good save from Tomiak's header (17'). Just three minutes later, the 96 defender was again in the spotlight: Following a foul by Hannover's Hayate Matsuda on Braunschweig's Florian Flick, Tomiak and the "Lions" striker Yardimci clashed violently about ten meters from the point of the foul. The Braunschweig player grabbed the defender by the neck with both hands and choked him. Clear violent conduct – red card (20'). Eintracht Frankfurt received their fifth red card in their tenth league match. The game became quite heated, with referee Hartmann kept busy and handing out yellow cards frequently. For many minutes, the game lacked any flow. However, the visitors took the lead with their first successful attack of the match. Right winger Mustapha Bundu played a major role in this. The Sierra Leonean international beat three Braunschweig defenders with a strong solo run down the right flank and then delivered a sensational low cross into the middle, where Källman slid in to tap the ball into the net (32'). As good as Bundu's play was, the "Lions" hadn't defended with enough bite. And this continued just four minutes later. Husseyn Chakroun cut inside from the left wing with better marking from Braunschweig and didn't hesitate. His shot was deflected by Eintracht captain Sven Köhler, and in the middle, Källman reacted quickest than his opponent, sending the ball towards goal with lightning speed. BTSV goalkeeper Hoffmann got a hand to it, but couldn't prevent the goal (36'). The hosts certainly didn't give up. Coach Backhaus's team pressed hard, closing down space, but against the alert Hannover defense, they rarely managed to create any attacking opportunities of their own. Substitute Levente Szabo had the "Lions'" best chance in the 64th minute when he first flicked a ball towards goal with his heel – 96 goalkeeper Nahuel Noll made a superb save – and then blasted the rebound wide from five meters out.
