Sister Wei longed for independence from a young age. After graduating from junior high school, she chose to leave home to attend high school in another city. Despite her father's strictness, she strived to balance family and studies. She left home at 5:30 every morning, helping her family run their beef noodle shop during the day and learning bartending in the evenings, cultivating self-discipline and diligence. This experience taught her that entrepreneurship is not just about business skills, but also about accumulating responsibility, perseverance, and learning ability. Sister Wei's bartending learning process was full of challenges. Her mentor was unwilling to teach, so she could only observe techniques from fruit peels and scraps, practicing repeatedly at home. This experience of "stealing knowledge" taught her to think in reverse and shaped her later management philosophy: entrepreneurs should create an environment where the team can truly learn, rather than having people passively work. Her first entrepreneurial step was running a laundromat. To make her coin-operated washing machine business profitable, she hired part-time workers to help design more efficient processes, marking the beginning of her learning resource utilization and process optimization. Later, she entered the restaurant industry, initially opening a restaurant in a renovated ruin in Taichung City. The early days were fraught with difficulties, with few customers, but through continuous experimentation, service improvement, personal interaction with customers, and media coverage, she gradually gained recognition. After opening several restaurants, Ms. Wei began designing "Feihua Luoyuan," a mountain restaurant she spent ten years designing. It's more than just a restaurant; it's an artistic, heritage-worthy space. She and her team observed wind direction, sunsets, and seasonal changes to design the building's location, stone walls, and bamboo decorations, meticulously calculating and handcrafting every detail. The stone walls are constructed without cement; each stone is carefully selected, stacked, and secured with water. The bamboo is roasted, trimmed, and then installed. These details are mostly unseen by guests, but it is this dedication that shapes a true "host spirit": hospitality is not just about food and service, but about making guests feel at home through the environment, details, and culture. Wei Jie emphasized that this spirit extends from the individual to the team and then to the guests: drawing from her own growth experience, she established a culture and processes that allow the team to internalize this hospitality philosophy. With each guest, each season, and each visit, she and her team are able to perceive the guests' needs and continue this meticulous care. This episode not only shares Wei Xingyi's entrepreneurial story but also demonstrates how "hostliness" can be integrated into life and business, making business a lifestyle rather than simply a business operation.
