Exploring Chungjang-ro: Gwangju’s Downtown Shopping Area

Today I’m walking through Chungjang-ro, one of Gwangju’s main downtown shopping streets in South Korea. This area is near ACC and the 5·18 Road area, and it’s full of shops, clothing stores, beauty stores, cafés, restaurants, arcades, Artbox, Olive Young, and all kinds of little places tucked into the streets. This is different from the underground mall — this walk is above ground through the busy shopping streets around Chungjang-ro. It’s one of those areas where you can really see everyday city life in Gwangju, from shopping and street signs to local businesses and people just going about their day.
