Complete tour DAMAS ISLAND CHOROS ISLAND from LA SERENA (CHILE) | Penguins, whales and much more! Video with the complete tour ISLA DAMAS & ISLA CHOROS from 'La Serena' in the north of Chile. This tour visits the Humboldt Penguin National Reserve, a place with a great biodiversity of marine fauna in front of the 'Punta de Choros' cove. The biodiversity of this area is explained by the Humboldt current, a cold water current that has many nutrients and, therefore, a rich marine fauna. On the tour that includes navigation we can see Humpback Whale (Megaptera novaeangliae), Fur Seal (Otaria flavescens), Fur Seal (Arctophoca australis), Pelican (Pelecanus thagus), the famous Humboldt Penguin (Spheniscus humboldti) , Yeco Cormorant (Phalacrocorax brasilianus), Booby bird (Sula variegata), Lile Cormorant (Phalacrocorax gaimardi), Turkey vulture (Cathartes aura) and on previous trips I saw southern elephant seals (Mirounga leonina), Chungungo (Lontra felina) and Bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus). We sail along the edge of Isla Choros, where we see almost all of these animals, especially the beautiful Humboldt Penguins. These penguins make their nests in this place due to the existence of rocks, bushes and cacti, to protect their eggs from predators. This colony of penguins is one of the most important of this species, which is why the national reserve has this name. In the second part, we leave the boat to walk on the beautiful Isla Damas. This island is also part of the nature reserve, it has some self-guided trails to see the flora and fauna, highlighting a viewpoint at the highest point, which also has a lighthouse.
