The Fire Beyond The Gates

When Loki rescued Iðunn from Þjazi's stronghold, the giant transformed into a mighty eagle and pursued him across the skies toward Asgard. Waiting behind the gates, the Æsir prepared a blazing pyre. Þjazi flew too swiftly to escape the flames, his wings caught fire, and he fell within the walls where the gods struck him down. Yet his story did not end there. His daughter Skaði came seeking justice, and in time Þjazi's eyes were placed among the stars. "The Fire Beyond the Gates" is an original song from Týr's Confessions, inspired by the accounts preserved in the Poetic Edda and Snorri Sturluson's Prose Edda (Skáldskaparmál). Sung from Týr's point of view, this piece reflects on duty, sacrifice, and the heavy burden of justice, reminding us that even victory carries a cost.
