How to make a Japanese Floral Herbarium

I took a class on how to make Japanese floral bottle gardens or a Herbarium while I was in Japan. These are the most darling little gatherings or collection of dried or preserved flowers that are placed into little bottles which rest on a window ledge. As the light hits the bottles the flowers come to life. Once made, these will last several years and I love the simplicity of keeping alive seasonal botanicals that might take your fancy. You will need: Dried/preserved flowers, grasses, seed heads etc (or cheat the system and use artificial material) Small bottles with lids or corks as stoppers. Baby oil or mineral oil.
