The Consequences of Neglected Sin | 2 Samuel 13:20-29 20 Her brother Absalom said to her, “Was your brother Amnon with you? But he is your brother, sister. Be silent now and do not be distressed by this.” So Tamar lived miserably in the house of her brother Absalom. 21 When King David heard all this, he was very angry. 22 Absalom hated Amnon because he had disgraced his sister Tamar, so Absalom did not speak of Amnon’s right or wrong. 23 Two years later, Absalom was shearing sheep at Baal-Hazor near Ephraim. Absalom invited all the king’s sons. 24 Absalom came to the king and said, “Now I have a sheep-shearing job; please, O king, take your servants and go with your servant.” 25 The king said to Absalom He said, “No, my son, we do not all need to go now, lest we be a burden to you.” Absalom pleaded with him, but he did not go and blessed him. 26 Absalom said, “If you will not do so, please let my brother Amnon go with us.” The king said to him, “What reason is there for him to go with you?” 27 Absalom pleaded, so the king sent Amnon and all his sons with him to him. 28 Absalom had already commanded his servants, saying, “Watch carefully for the time when Amnon’s heart is in rejoicing with wine; when I tell you to strike Amnon, kill him. Do not be afraid; has I not commanded you?
