I, as unworthy, sad, weak and tormented by sorrow, call for your participation and intercession. I beg you to cleanse my thoughts and soul, deliver me from evil thoughts and instruct me in the true way. Saint John, you saw the sins of the earth and granted redemption to people. Oh, earthly preacher, who managed to touch Jesus Himself and baptize Him, grant me salvation before the Lord. Pray for the sinful servant of God (name) and do not leave me to the mercy of the devilish forces. I beg for the good that I will carry with me all my life. Preacher and desert martyr, do not deny me, renew my soul with repentance and fill my heart with genuine faith. Eternal Kingdom of Heaven. Amen. Main prayer to Saint John the Forerunner Saint John, forerunner and baptizer of the Lord! The holy evangelist speaks of you as a man sent by God to bear witness to the Light, and that all may believe in that true Light which has come into this world to enlighten every man. It was to come after you, but it was before you, for it was from the ages. The Lord Himself testifies of you, all-praised prophet, when He says that you are greater than all others. The Old Testament prophets foretold Christ the Messiah with words, and you pointed to Him with your hand and boldly proclaimed: “This is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world.” You are God’s preacher of repentance, you baptized the repentant in the Jordan, you were deemed worthy to touch the crown of the head of the King of God with your own hand. You are the first martyr, you are the mentor of fasts and hermits, you are the teacher of purity, you are the close friend of Christ. Through you I ask the Lord, I fall down before you: do not refuse me your intercession - before Him - so that my soul may be renewed by true repentance, humility and conversion to Jesus, as if by a second baptism, for you were a preacher of repentance and a baptizer. Together with me, ask for grace from the all-merciful and all-good Creator, so that I may receive His forgiveness of sins and may enter unhindered one day where nothing filthy, dirty and abominable can enter - the Kingdom of Heaven.
