The Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) has also informed shipping companies about the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and advised vessels not to travel until further notice. The PGSA spokesperson said the strait was completely closed due to military operations. The spokesperson said the closure would remain in place until peace and stability were restored, and shipping companies should follow the instructions issued during this period. Meanwhile, the British Maritime Authority said security risks in the Strait of Hormuz remained serious. It advised ships to exercise caution while passing through the waterway and said vessels could contact authorities in advance and use the southern route. Senior Iranian officials ratcheted up their threats as the latest exchange of strikes with the United States spilled into Monday, with neither side showing signs of backing down from a cycle of attacks that is unraveling the cease-fire and pushing the region into deeper uncertainty. Ali Bagheri Kani, the deputy secretary of the powerful Supreme National Security Council, was among the officials calling for revenge against the United States over the killing of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, describing it as “the right of the Iranian nation,” according to the state broadcaster. Within Iran, he and other conservative hard-liners have in recent weeks increasingly become more vocal in their uncompromising stance toward the United States. Early Monday, Iran’s military said it launched another barrage of strikes aimed at American military assets throughout the Middle East, targeting Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman. Hours earlier, U.S. forces said they had launched more strikes on Iran aimed at stymying its ability to attack commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
