Running A Marathon After Beating HPV Throat Cancer

At 45, Levi Waldron battled HPV throat cancer, now the most prevalent HPV cancer in the US. Five years later, he finished the New York City Marathon—an unforgettable victory lap that definitively puts cancer behind him. Levi's official diagnosis: HPV-related oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma at the base of the tongue, with regional metastasis to lymph nodes on the right side of the neck. As a professor and public health data scientist, Levi says he's sharing his story to help people navigate their own cancer journeys.
