Salaam Movement

This documentary showcases Salaam Movement and its volunteer branch called the Salaam Corps. It is a well-established youth organization that operates in four regions in Mindanao. It hosts several youth volunteers who are chosen through application cycles to unite and strengthen young people from diverse backgrounds in their peace-building efforts. In regional workshops and training sessions, young leaders of different faiths and ethnic backgrounds learn to sustain their own grassroots community initiatives. Salaam Movement is run within the Al Qalam Institute for Islamic Identities and Dialogue in Southeast Asia of Ateneo de Davao University. Capacitating the Salaam Corps is one of the organizations’ activities supported by the “Youth for a Culture of Peace and Non-violence in Mindanao” (YOUCAP) implemented by GIZ. This film was produced as part of a Training of Trainers program run by Glocal Films.
