Step into the mesmerizing world of the ancient Chinese Guzheng — one of the oldest and most beautiful string instruments in human history. Hosted by DGEM — Diapason Global Education for Music — at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, this educational concert and documentary experience explores the history, construction, sound, and performance techniques of the Guzheng through live demonstrations by master musicians from China’s renowned Nanjing Quartet. Discover how this remarkable instrument evolved over thousands of years, how its strings are plucked using specialized finger picks, and how its music can imitate flowing rivers, birdsong, wind, nature, emotion, and storytelling itself. This special cultural event also featured internationally respected flutist Dongbo Yu, the sole inheritor authorized to preserve and perform the ancient Jiahu bone flute tradition — one of the oldest playable musical instruments ever discovered, dating back approximately 9,000 years and crafted from the wing bone of the red-crowned crane.
