DANGLING & MISPLACED MODIFIERS In today's lesson, Kevin teaches you how to identify and correct dangling and misplaced modifiers. NOTE: Many of the examples in the lesson are incorrectly identified; virtually all of them are "misplaced" modifiers because the correct subjects are there--they're just not in the right form or place. A "dangling" modifier occurs when the intended subject is not present in the sentence--so no matter where you try to move the modifier, the sentence will still be unclear. A "misplaced" modifier occurs when the subject is in the sentence but the modifier is simply in the wrong spot. Don't confuse yourself over this distinction, though--the concept is the exact same for both: Try to make your sentences as clear as possible.) -- FREE PRACTICE BELOW -- DIRECTIONS: Read each sentence.
