Designed, built and lived in by Hall & Hart founder Nick Rawson and his family, the project balances warmth, restraint and tactility to create a residence grounded in connection and longevity. Set within a quiet, leafy neighbourhood, the home responds to its suburban context with calm confidence. The vision emerged during a formative period in the owners’ lives, with the design process unfolding alongside the anticipation of welcoming their first child. This sense of growth and future family life became central to the home’s planning and atmosphere, informing how spaces would support connection, play and everyday rituals. At its core, inside a warm brick house designed for light and family life is an exploration of openness and intimacy. The layout prioritises connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing natural light to move freely through the interiors while maintaining a sense of comfort and retreat. Living, kitchen and dining areas are unified through spatial flow yet differentiated through subtle material shifts and ceiling treatments. Externally, the home features full clay brick from Brickworks, paired with limestone paving to create a soft yet enduring architectural expression. The chosen Chillingham White brick introduces tonal variation across the facade, lending warmth, texture and depth.
