I transformed the Upper Moons into a version where they transformed into Hashiras. The Upper Moons are under Muzan's command; they live to destroy humans, and the Hashiras exist to prevent this from happening. Some Hashiras have been defeated or eliminated by an Upper Moon; we see the case of Akaza with Rengoku, the Fire Hashira. In the anime Demon Slayer, we see that some Upper Moons were once human, had feelings, and upon becoming Upper Moons, turned into emotionless monsters.
