Vakava vaaratilanne - A serious incident Helsinki-Malmi (EFHF)

Turkkilaisyhtiön Boeing 727-koneen laskeutuminen liian alas Malmin lentokentän lähiliikennealueella toukokuussa 1991 aiheutti vakavan vaaratilanteen. Lentokone ylitti Malmin lentokentän jopa alle 100 metrin (300 jalan) korkeudessa. The plane flew over the Malmi Airport at an altitude of less than 100 meters (300 feet). At the time, there could have been small aircraft traffic in the Malmi area at altitudes under 600 feet, as the airport handled an average of 400 flights per day. The Turkish plane mistakenly identified Malmi's taxiway (formerly runway 32) as runway 33 at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, where the plane was headed after passing over Malmi. The aircraft eventually executed a go-around and continued its approach to land at Helsinki-Vantaa. Onboard were 177 passengers and a crew of eight. Among the witnesses to the event was the crew of an Air Force Learjet, which was flying behind the Turkish plane, also preparing to land at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.
