Тайна советской антарктической экспедиции 1934-35 годов!
Help for channel development and gratitude: Sber: 4276 5400 4257 3406 Thank you very much!!! The secret of the Soviet Antarctic expedition of 1934-35! On my channel I already talked about the German Antarctic expedition "New Swabia" of 1938-1939, which, according to one version, created a secret military base 211 or "New Berlin" in Antarctica, on Queen Maud Land. The second, no less important German subglacial base for submarines was built in the area of the Bellinghausen Sea on Ellsworth Land (or Ellsworth), where near its coast, on the bottom, in the 70s of the last century, the French explorer Jacques Yves-Cousteau discovered a sunken aircraft carrier, presumably German. The third, under-ice base was built by the Germans on the coast of the Ross Sea, which was captured by the Americans after the war and rebuilt into their secret military base. I have a series of videos about this on my channel, I will leave the links in the description for those who haven't seen it yet. So what's remarkable? It turns out that in addition to Germany, both the US government and the Soviet Union were actively interested in these Antarctic territories in the 1930s. And if everyone knows about the Antarctic expeditions of 1933-39 by the American polar explorer Lincoln Ellsworth, who made the famous trans-Arctic flight from Dundee Island to the Ross Ice Shelf in 1935, then there is practically no information in Russian sources about the mysterious Soviet expedition to the shores of Antarctica in 1934-35. But this should not be surprising. The Soviet government was a master at concealing any information. Today, it is officially believed that the Soviet Union did not conduct research in Antarctica until 1946, when the Slava whaling flotilla with a scientific group on board set out on a long voyage to the shores of the sixth continent for the first time. This is what the official information says. But at the end of December 1934, the American private expedition of the polar explorer Lincoln Ellsworth discovered an unknown Soviet vessel off the coast of Antarctica in the Ross Sea area, which was actively exploring the continent. We learn about this from the book by the Danish polar pilot Magnus Laurits Olsen, "The Tale of the White Horizon." For reference: Magnus Olsen is not some ordinary science fiction writer, but a direct participant in the second Antarctic expedition of the American polar explorer Lincoln Ellsworth. He was the co-pilot of the Polar Star on the Wyatt Earp, a 17-man American-Norwegian crew. Here he is in a rare photo of Lincoln Ellsworth's 1933-35 Arctic expedition. The book was written immediately after his return from the expedition. Olsen recounts his encounter with the Russians in Chapter 13, "Second Christmas in Antarctica." Although the book never mentions the name of the vessel, co-pilot Olsen directly calls the unknown ship a "Russian vessel."
