I discovered "Music, Maestro, Please" just two days ago while attending Diana Krall's wonderful concert. I had never heard this beautiful standard before. From the very first notes, I was captivated by its elegance, gentle swing, and the intimate atmosphere that brings to mind the smoky jazz clubs of the 1940s and 1950s. When I got home, I couldn't resist learning it. I picked out the melody entirely by ear, without using any sheet music, and recorded this tenor saxophone version. Written in 1938 by Allie Wrubel (music) and Herb Magidson (lyrics), Music, Maestro, Please has become a timeless classic of the Great American Songbook and remains a favorite among jazz musicians.
