Neal Schon uses some very Hendrix inspired chord work to create a melodic, mellow and perfect intro for this ballad. In this Lights guitar lesson video I will show you the entire intro which should help you understand a lot of the chord work that goes on within the rest of the song. If you have never done this kind of Hendrix influenced chord work before you may find it just a bit tricky. The use of hammer-ons and pull-offs to ornament basic chord shapes is really what this type of chord style is about. Focus on making sure you bring out all the notes of the chord. Especially when the chord is arpeggiated. Those notes should be just a prominent as the main melody notes you are hammering-on or pulling off. Hope you guys enjoy the lesson.
