Beach Buggy Racing 2 for PC First Look - Episode 1

Hey there! Welcome to the very first release of Beach Buggy Racing 2 on Steam Early Access! We want to let you know a few things before you get started. The first release of this game is essentially the same playable demo that we're showing at PAX East in Boston 2/27-3/1. It's a bite-sized little nugget of what the final game is going to be. There's not much instruction, or metagame, or story. You just jump in, race and blast each other with Powerups, and have fun. But you'll have more fun if you know a few things: You can play this game with 1-5 players: that's 1-4 gamepads and a keyboard. Any controller that's connected will appear ghosted at the bottom of the screen. If you hit START on your gamepad or SPACE on your keyboard, that controller will become activated or de-activated. It's more fun with friends! Gamepad controls are pretty standard R-trigger accelerate, L-trigger brake kind of stuff. A and B use powerups, Y uses your special ability. Playing with keyboard? Arrows control the car, S uses Powerup 1, D uses Powerup 2 and A uses your special ability. Boost start! That's fun. Hit the A button gamepad or Enter on keyboard right when the countdown hits Go. Powerslide! Only losers don't powerslide. On gamepad, tap the brake when you're turning to start powersliding. On keyboard, hit W...it stands for "Why is powersliding controlled by W?" The game defaults to pretty easy. But you're a bad mammajamma, so you probably want to make it harder. On the Championship selection screen, enter this top secret code on a gamepad: Left Shoulder, Right Shoulder, Y, X. That'll bring up a dialog that lets you change the difficulty. The first release of this game is really simple. It's just jump in, have some fun, jump out. We'd love your feedback on controls and other stuff. In the coming months we'll be adding a bunch of new content. For starters, more tracks and more cars. But most importantly, we'll be fleshing out the other areas of the game. We're going to add a Career mode with a story, and a battle mode and more. Your input is really important to us -- that's why we're doing this Early Access thing. Which by the way is totally not going to happen (knock on wood.) Us getting hit by a bus. What probably is going to happen is we're going to keep adding new tracks and new game modes, and checking the forums to read how you guys like (or don't) the stuff we added, and going back and making changes, and issuing more updates, until at some point we decide enough is enough, put a fork in it, and call it done. Until that day, please enjoy the game and lay on us whatever constructive feedback you care to share in the forums. We promise to at least consider it. What's this game about? Beach Buggy Racing 2 is set in an action-packed, surprise-filled world of off-road kart racing mayhem. Race against a field of rival drivers, each with a unique special ability. Explore Egyptian pyramids, dragon-infested castles, pirate ship wrecks, and experimental alien bio-labs. Attack other drivers with over 40 different Powerups like Dodgeball Fury, Donut Tires, Death Bat, and Chain Lightning. What's currently in the game? The current version of Beach Buggy Racing 2 is focused around split screen multiplayer championships. You jump in solo or with 1-3 friends, pick a set of tracks to drive on, and race and blast the bejeezus out of each other. Then you do it again. It's pretty simple. Over the coming months we'll regularly add content to the championship mode, including new tracks and cars. Then we'll be adding career mode, battle mode, and more. But for now this is what you get, we hope you love it, and see the above disclaimer about it being Early Access.
