The number of hot days has been steadily increasing for 50 years. Whereas previously heat records in Germany were broken every 20-30 years, we now break them annually, sometimes several times a year. Unfortunately, this danger is not on the radar of local authorities, politicians, or many citizens. We must prepare (and not slowly) for the inevitable heat waves to come. Yes, this will cost a lot of money, but doing nothing will be even more expensive. It is crucial that we do not let up on climate protection; Germany is not alone in this, on the contrary, we are lagging behind other countries.
