Recipe for 8's in our Dark Horse & 2026 GT500 "Legendary" Leaks - Lethal Lowdown May 2025

Welcome back to another LETHAL LOWDOWN. While things got a little hectic in the past couple of months, we're back for a May Edition, where Jared talks about our Whipple Supercharged Dark Horse and what it will hopefully take to hit the 8 second mark, some new leaked images of the 2026 Shelby Mustang GT500 (possibly), and taking a look at some of our top brands here at Lethal Performance. Our current fastest E.T with our Dark Horse is 9.24 @ 148.3mph. Now for a full weight car with no suspension modifications, it's impressive, BUT, it isn't our 8 second run. With the newly-installed KPM Fuel System, the car is getting proper fuel at the top end of the track, where we were previously starting to run out with our blend of E30R. Our trick now? Run a taller rear tire. Per Fred Cook of Evolution Performance, if we run a 29" tall tire in the rear, (305/45R18), we can limit the transmission from shifting to that next gear, which we think is killing our top end. While it sounds promising, we're running into our next problem; the heat of summer here in South Florida, making it harder to stay cool. Next up, we've seen some images circulating around from Hagerty that show a disguised test mule of what we could only speculate would be the next GT500 OR some new spec of the Dark Horse.
