Divano Chesterfield: come si fa?
Explore VAMA Divani’s Chester Collection: https://vamadivani.com/product-catego... Discover how we make our original VAMA Chesterfield Sofa step by step in this new video. ► STRUCTURE (0:08) ◄ A solid inner structure is the key for an everlasting Chesterfield Sofa. That’s why we only use the top quality raw materials such as poplar solid wood and lamellar pinewood and beechwood. We cut and assemble each piece of wood following a detailed manufacture plan including the use of specific adhesives, metallic spikes and staples. The final result is a wooden structure that is strong like concrete and able to withstand every weight. ► SUSPENSIONS (0:55) ◄ Jute belts, biconical steel springs, hemp rope, waxed thread: these are the essential elements to create a seat “like it used to be”. Here at VAMA Divani we master an ancient technique that was handed down through generations from our fathers down to us. ► UPHOLSTERY (1:32) ◄ For the making of the Chesterfield Sofa you see in this video we used a special kind of leather upholstery which is usually called “Rub-off” in colour red. (It doesn’t look red, right? Watch the full video and find out why it’s called “Rub-off”! ) ► PADDING (2:23) ◄ For Chesterfield Sofa’s paddings we use the highest quality polyurethane foam available on the market. We select different density levels depending on the different parts of the sofa to offer the best comfort. For this seat we chose a particular cushioning filled with goose feathers with a polyurethane foam core: the perfect pairing for a comfy and durable couch. ► UPHOLSTERY CRAFTMANSHIP (3:02) ◄ There is no Chesterfield without Capitonné, a centuries-old handcrafted technique which really is the crown jewel of this piece of craftmanship. As you can see in this video, tufting a Chesterfield sofa takes much care and time: we accurately work on each sewing, on each button, on each crease until every detail is made to perfection. ► LEATHER FINISHING PROCESS (4:45) ◄ “Rub-off” leather is a special kind of upholstery that has been processed in order to have a lighter inner layer and a surface darker one. With the help of a specific product we gently “remove” part of the outer darker layer so that the lighter one comes up to the surface highlighting details such as the buttons and the pleats and giving an attractive aged effect. This adds matchless charm and style to this tufted iconic sofa. ► PACKAGING AND SHIPPING (5:43) ◄ As craftsmen we care about our products so much that we do packaging and shipping ourselves. In order to be sure that our Chesterfield reaches your house in perfect conditions, we use the best wrapping materials to keep it safe on the way: first of all we envelop the sofa with a nylon tarp to avoid any friction between upholstery and packaging materials. Then we put it inside a bubble wrap bag that cushions any possible abrupt movements, we seal it and we place it inside a cardboard reinforced box 1 cm thick. ► TO CONCLUDE ◄ “Handmade” has always been synonim of high quality and our Chesterfield sofa proves it.
