As a group of Americans traveling across China, we had no idea just how physically demanding this climb would be. Between the steep stairways, relentless elevation changes, hot September temperatures, and humid conditions, reaching Fortress 12 became a challenge we won’t soon forget. Along the way, we experienced breathtaking views, shared plenty of laughs, met amazing people, and gained an even greater appreciation for the history and beauty of China. One of the biggest surprises of this trip has been the kindness, hospitality, and generosity shown to us by the Chinese people.
