Maya never dies, nor does the mind; the body perishes again and again, yet hopes and cravings remain eternal. जन्म-मरण के चक्र में केवल शरीर ही गिरता है। पर माया की मिथ्या और मन की अटूट तृष्णाएँ बनी रहती हैं। कबीर कहते हैं: इसी जीवन में जागो, अहंकार मिटाओ, और लालचों से परे मुक्ति प्राप्त करो। In the endless cycle of birth and death, only the body falls away. Yet the illusions of maya and the restless desires of the mind persist unbroken. Kabir reminds us: awaken in this very life, dissolve the ego, and find freedom beyond all cravings. Kabir’s doha, “माया मरी ना मन मरा, शरीर मर मर जाए रे। आशा तृष्णा ना मरी, कबीर कहें समझाए रे,” captures the profound truth of human existence in the simplest words. It reveals that while the physical body undergoes repeated cycles of birth, decay, and death, the deeper forces that bind us—maya (the illusion of the material world) and the mind’s endless desires—never truly perish. Maya is not just wealth or possessions; it is the entire web of appearances that we mistake for reality. We chase money, status, relationships, and pleasures, believing they will bring lasting fulfillment. Yet each time we grasp them, they slip away, leaving us hungry for more. The mind, driven by these cravings (आशा और तृष्णा), remains perpetually dissatisfied. No matter how many lifetimes pass, the same patterns repeat because we fail to see their illusory nature. Kabir, the weaver-saint, points to the only true liberation: dying while still alive. This “जीते जी मरना” is not physical death but the death of the ego, the false sense of “I” that clings to maya. When the mind’s attachments dissolve through self-inquiry and surrender to the Guru or the inner Shabd (divine sound), the seeker awakens to the eternal, formless reality beyond birth and death. This doha is a call to radical awakening. It urges us to look within and recognize that true peace lies not in accumulating more, but in letting go. By understanding the futility of endless desires, we can break free from the wheel of samsara and live in the freedom of the present moment, untouched by the illusions that once bound us. कबीर का यह दोहा—“माया मरी ना मन मरा, शरीर मर मर जाए रे। आशा तृष्णा ना मरी, कबीर कहें समझाए रे”—मानव जीवन की गहन सत्य को अत्यंत सरल शब्दों में व्यक्त करता है। यह बताता है कि शरीर तो जन्म-मरण के चक्र में बार-बार नष्ट होता है, पर माया और मन की असीम तृष्णाएँ कभी नहीं मरतीं। माया केवल धन या वस्तुएँ नहीं, बल्कि वह समस्त जाल है जिसे हम वास्तविकता मान बैठते हैं। हम धन, पद, रिश्ते और सुखों के पीछे भागते हैं, यह सोचकर कि वे स्थायी सुख देंगे। पर हर बार पकड़ने पर वे हाथ से फिसल जाते हैं, और मन और अधिक भूखा रह जाता है। आशा और तृष्णा (मन की चाहतें) कभी शांत नहीं होतीं। कितने भी जन्म क्यों न बीत जाएँ, वही पैटर्न दोहराते रहते हैं क्योंकि हम उनकी मिथ्या प्रकृति को नहीं देख पाते। कबीर, जो साधारण जुलाहा थे, हमें एकमात्र मुक्ति का मार्ग दिखाते हैं: जीते जी मर जाना। यह शारीरिक मृत्यु नहीं, बल्कि अहंकार का मरना है—वह झूठा “मैं” जो माया से चिपका रहता है। जब मन गुरु की शरण या अंतःकरण के शब्द में विलीन हो जाता है, तब जागृति होती है और जन्म-मरण के चक्र से मुक्ति मिलती है। यह दोहा एक तीव्र जागरण का आह्वान है। यह हमें भीतर झांकने और देखने को कहता है कि सच्चा सुख संग्रह में नहीं, त्याग में है। अनंत इच्छाओं की व्यर्थता समझकर हम संसार के चक्र से मुक्त हो सकते हैं और वर्तमान क्षण में उस शाश्वत सत्य में निवास कर सकते हैं जो कभी जन्मा न मरा।
