The Toronto Raptors are Championship Contenders, but they're not done yet

The Kawhi Leonard trade has launched the Raptors into overnight contender status in the absolutely loaded Eastern Conference. With a weakened Pistons team and the Celtics team chemistry in turmoil, it's hardly a stretch to say the Raptors are on the Knicks heels as title contenders. But losses of Mamukelashvilli (Lakers) and the bets on young unproven talents like Graves, Martin and Battle mean the Raptors are skating on thin ice praying on injury luck. Championship contenders aren't build through the draft, they're build through trades, free agency and smart margin depth signings. And perhaps more importantly, the Raptors are still an exceptionally young inexperienced team with several holes. The talent and defensive potential is jaw-dropping. But the Raptors need to be very smart over the next few weeks as they round out their roster. A homerun hit is necessary here. And the picks on the table might not give you the help you need to move the needle.
