He was one of my favorite interviews from last year. He had a powerful discography. 11 top 40 hits from 1978-1991. His biggest hit was “Take Me Home Tonight” from 1986 featuring Ronnie Spector famous for the Ronettes and being Phil Spector's ex-wife. His other hits included “Think I'm In Love,”” I wanna go back,” “Walk on Water” and “Peace in Our Time.” Anyone growing up in the seventies, however, will remember that famous self-titled debut album from 1977 which featured his first two hits “Baby Hold On” and “Two Tickets to Paradise.” It would be his biggest-selling album going double platinum. There wasn't a weak track on the project. Teamed up with guitarist Jimmy Lyon (who was on his first 5 records). He also co-wrote a lot of the tunes on the album and the rhythm section from the Steve Miller band Lonnie Turner on bass and Gary Mallaber on drums. The latter two were on Millers biggest hits like “Fly Like an Eagle,” Take the Money and Run”” Rock in Me” “Jet Airliner” “Jungle Love” and “Swingtown.” That Eddie Money debut features Rocking soul with Smokey Robinson's “You Really Got a Hold On Me.” which the Beatles also recorded. There was also the rockers “Jealousy,”” Gamblin' Man” and the bluesy 'Got To Get Another girl.” The family released a statement this morning: “The Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. We cannot imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.” He just let the world know that had been diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer. He'd been working on his family reality TV show “Real Money.” He was born Edward Joseph Mahoney in Brooklyn, New York on March 21, 1949. When he broke onto the scene one of the selling points was that he was a former cop. He graduated from Broadcasting school as a newsman so he would have the skills to write about the artists that inspired him since he bought his first album, “Madman Across The Water” by Elton John as a teen. In the '80s Beaudin was the host of the syndicated radio show “The Cross Canada Report” which had two versions (Rock and A/C). Beaudin was also asked to be a judge at the Juno Awards (Canada's answer to the Grammys) Twice. He has anchored every position in radio including morning and afternoon drive and was a Program and Music Director for The Breeze and California 103 in Calgary. He currently hosts the popular Lovesongs at QM-FM in Vancouver and on iHeartRadio.
