Provenance and Grading of Pink Diamonds - Branko Deljanin
💎 For more lectures and webinars, visit https://bit.ly/branko-academy ------------------------ In 2007, Branko began a research project in conjunction with an international team on the characterization of pink diamonds of different origins. It found that Argyle stones exhibit typical strong blue fluorescence under LWUV lamp and a characteristic ‘‘fingerprint’’ in the infrared part of the spectra. While rare Golconda’s are Type IIa (without nitrogen impurities), Argyle pinks comprise nitrogen and typically more in ‘B’ form than ‘A,’ making them Type IaAB. In the past 6 years GRS Research Swisslab (GRS) in Hong Kong in collaboration with CGL Canadian Gemlab Inc. has been accumulating data on pink diamonds from 8 sources using standard gem instruments and advanced spectroscopy (VIS, FTIR and PL) and started issuing “Provenance Report”. It’s important as Mining operations at the Argyle mine ceased at the end of 2020, and pink diamonds from Western Australia command premium over non-Argyle pink diamonds of same quality. Branko Deljanin, B.Sc. FGA, GG, DGA is President and Head Gemologist at CGL Canadian Gemlab and Director of Gemmological Research Industries (Canada). Since 1999 when he detected first coloured HPHT enhanced diamonds on the market, he has spent a great deal of time studying HPHT treatments of natural diamonds and ID of synthetic diamonds (HPHT and CVD), and natural pink diamonds. In 2001 he earned his Advanced Gemology Diploma (DUG) from the University of Nantes in France, on the subject “Identification of HPHT treated diamonds”. Deljanin is an instructor of advanced gemology programs on diamonds and gems offered at workshops in 17 countries and via on-line practical seminars and webinars. ------------------------ Powered by @GemHuntersSerbia
