F-roads of Iceland: F910 & F894 (Austurleið, Öskjuvatnsvegur) (01.08.2020)

F910 is one of the most famous and demanding rough unpaved F-roads of Iceland. It's long, twisty and offers spectacular landscape views with some unbridged rivers that need fording. In this video, we approach F910 from Kárahnjúkar Hydropower Plant on road 910 and then cover the road from there to Drekagil campsite. This is only half of F910, as the road goes on from Drekagil to Nýidalur hut on F26 (Sprengisandur). F894 is an exciting drive from the Drekagil campsite to lake Askja. The trail is not very long, 7.8 km, and it makes you feel you are on another planet, since driving is happening between old lava and occasionally on red sand. F894 ends at a carpark, from there on a small hike is needed to see Lake Askja and Lake Víti. Roads on the map: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/65.06...
