Books that build worlds for the parts of you that don't fit

I'm a librarian, and I've spent my life looking for answers in books. But Haruki Murakami's novel, The City and Its Uncertain Walls, asked me a question I couldn't stop thinking about — why do we build worlds that don't exist? What are they actually for? The answer brought me all the way back to a book I first read when I was eight years old: Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. No spoilers. Just a deep look at what these two books — written decades apart — have quietly been saying to each other. And maybe to all of us. 📚🥡Ting’s Takeaway Menu: Book Links 🥡📚 Borrow (Global): https://search.worldcat.org/ — Find it at your local library Support Indies (US): https://bookshop.org/shop/TingsTakeaway — Shop from independent bookstores Listen (Audio): Support local shops with audiobooks The City and Its Uncertain Walls: https://tidd.ly/4vLsYG7 Bridge to Terabithia: https://tidd.ly/4vd5Osq Purchase (General): Order through major retailers The City and Its Uncertain Walls: https://amzn.to/4uxg8tW Bridge to Terabithia: https://amzn.to/4uBTl0l Stories are best when they're shared, so I’ve curated these resources if you’d like to explore today's titles.
