Said made this proposal during a meeting with Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa at the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday. During the meeting, he asked the government to review the JHT tax provisions, including the taxable limit for benefits. Said stated that the IDR 50 million nominal amount at the time the regulation was issued had much greater purchasing power than it does today. Therefore, an adjustment to the threshold is necessary to better reflect current economic conditions. Said used the gold price as a reference. According to him, IDR 50 million in 2009 was equivalent to approximately 152 grams of gold. At current gold prices, this value is estimated to be around IDR 400 million.
