How She Went From “I Can’t Start a Podcast” to Season 2
A few months ago, Kathleen did not see herself as someone who would ever have a podcast. Now she’s already on Season 2. In this episode, we talk about the surprisingly emotional, creative, weirdly-fun process of becoming “a person who podcasts”… especially when you’re beginning from a place of hesitation, perfectionism, self-doubt, and “surely this is for more extroverted/media-trained people than me.” Kathleen Wisemandle is a leadership coach and founder who initially joined the Sounds Great Podcast Accelerator thinking she’d maybe experiment with a few tiny audio essays. Fast forward a handful of months and she’s: hosting interviews experimenting with formats building community around her ideas reconnecting with people in meaningful ways discovering that podcasting is a lot more playful and flexible than she imagined We also get into: • why solo episodes felt scarier than interviews • learning to tolerate hearing your own voice • sustainable release schedules and avoiding burnout • podcasting during career reinvention and second acts • why “good enough to publish” is the goal • creating before you feel fully legitimate • how community changes the experience of making a show There’s also a surprisingly delightful side conversation about editing… because Kathleen turned out to genuinely love editing her podcast, which honestly feels a little unhinged but inspiring. If you’ve been circling the idea of a podcast for months (or years)… this conversation may help it feel a little less abstract, a little less intimidating, and a little more like something you could actually begin. 🎙 ABOUT THE SHOW Talking the Talk is a podcast about podcasting, hosted by Courtney Reimer, founder and principal strategist of Sounds Great Creative Podcast Strategy.
