Pelin Değirmenci, a tanbur artist from TRT Istanbul Radio, will be performing at TEDxGündoğdu College. She began her musical journey at the age of 9 with vocal and oud training at the Samsun Municipality Conservatory Turkish Classical Music Children's Choir. Between 1994 and 1996, she took tanbur lessons from Prof. Dr. Murat Salim Tokaç. She graduated from the Composition Department of the Istanbul Technical University State Conservatory of Turkish Music in 2002, having been accepted in 1997. She then completed her master's degree at Haliç University. She received guidance from Cinuçen Tanrıkorur and Necdet Yaşar for many years. After working for 5 years at the Istanbul State Turkish Music Research and Application Ensemble, she passed the trained artist exam held by TRT Istanbul Radio in 2015 and began working as a tanbur artist. She has represented Turkey on various platforms both domestically and internationally. She is married to Yavuz Değirmenci, a Turkish Folk Music vocalist from TRT Istanbul Radio, and is the mother of two children.
