Moda femenina de la década de 1830s | Evolución de la moda femenina

Women's fashion in the 1830s was exuberant and dramatic, closely tied to Romanticism, which emphasized emotion, the beauty of nature, and individualism. Perhaps the most clearly manifested element of Romanticism in fashion was the tendency to look to the past for inspiration, as I mentioned in the previous video. Historicism permeated 1830s style, especially in interpretations of the 17th century with wide collars, puffed sleeves, and curled hairstyles. The decade began with overwhelmingly bold fashions but ended with a style that had collapsed into a subdued sentimentality, becoming increasingly soft and modest and avoiding the flashy. The elegant woman no longer possessed exuberant energy but was instead a serene and understated woman who shunned daring forms. This shift towards modesty was epitomized by Queen Victoria's ascension to the throne in 1837. Despite her youth, Victoria favored a simple and understated style and was cautious about adopting new fashions.
