This time, my fishing buddy M invited me to try my hand at bigfin reef squid fishing from a boat in Akashi. I did this type of fishing once 10 years ago, but it's been so long that I can't remember anything about it. So this time, I'll be getting a lesson from M, a squid fishing expert. Because the waters off Akashi are a strait, the currents are very strong and it's a rapids spot where the tide flows like a river. We'll be using an omori rig, which was designed to catch bigfin reef squid. We tried a variety of squid jigs, but all the ones that caught were Dart Max. This squid jig is hard to come by, but it seems to be very effective, and most people on the boat were using it. At first, I didn't know how to use it and had a hard time catching any fish, but I gradually got the hang of it and started to understand the tips and tricks of this type of fishing.
