1st time sailing my own boat. I think I might love this. | Ep 3

In Episode 3, my sailing instructor Gary takes me out for my first proper lessons on Summer Star. We leave Portsmouth, navigate around the sandbanks of the Solent, sail past Osborne House (where Queen Victoria lived and died), and unfurl the asymmetrical sail — the kind you'd use to cross an ocean. Before all that, I tackled my biggest repair attempt yet: fixing the boat's fridge. With mixed results. There's a moment, sailing back toward Portsmouth, where I tried to say something profound about how it felt and completely failed. I think that moment might have been the point. I'm Olly. I sold my house, bought a 40-foot Nautitech catamaran called Summer Star, and I'm slowly learning how to sail it. I did this the wrong way around — bought the bigger boat first and now I'm learning how to use it. ▬▬▬▬▬ CHAPTERS ▬▬▬▬▬ 01:30 The fridge that broke 02:50 Wallace and Gromit wiring 03:32 Gary arrives, boat depth 05:22 Leaving the dock, navigating the sandbanks 07:18 Past Osborne House 07:47 Code 65 09:48 Engine lesson with Gary 11:27 Asymmetrical explained 13:33 Unfurling the trade wind sail 18:00 I think I might love this ▬▬▬▬▬ FOLLOW THE JOURNEY ▬▬▬▬▬ 🛥️ The boat: Nautitech 40 catamaran "Summer Star" 🎬 New episodes: Sundays at 12midday UK 📷 Instagram: @ollys_boat ▬▬▬▬▬ PREVIOUS EPISODES ▬▬▬▬▬ Episode 1: Sold my house, bought a boat    • Sold my house, bought a boat, the adventur...   Episode 2: First day owning a boat - both toilets broke    • 1st day owning a boat: small tour and two ...   ▬▬▬▬▬ CREDITS ▬▬▬▬▬ Music: Original tracks created with Suno AI Map data: © Google Earth Osborne House image: David Short / Wikimedia Commons (CC BY 2.0) #sailing #catamaran #boatlife
